In order to improve the charging efficiency of rechargeable lithium batteries, experts at home and abroad have developed a variety of charging methods. According to the charging efficiency of rechargeable lithium batteries, the charging methods can be divided into conventional charging and fast charging.

Conventional charging includes constant current and constant voltage charging, variable current intermittent charging, pulse charging and intelligent charging.

As the most classic method, the constant current and constant voltage charging method of rechargeable lithium batteries is firstly charged by constant current mode, and then charged by constant voltage mode, which has simple structure and convenient control. However, this charging method can not eliminate the phenomenon of battery polarization, and the charging efficiency is low.

The variable current intermittent charging method of rechargeable lithium batteries: under the condition of limiting the maximum charging voltage of the battery, the intermittent charging method of gradually reducing the current section is adopted, which increases the charging current and shortens the charging time, but the constant voltage charging stage adopted in the later charging stage makes the charging speed slow.

The pulse charging method of rechargeable lithium batteries: it overturns the limitation of the traditional battery on the best charging curve, adopts high current pulse charging, and eliminates the polarization phenomenon of the battery during the stop charging period. However, in order to ensure that the temperature of rechargeable lithium batteries is not too high, the initial constant current charging current is generally small, and the speed is still slow.

Intelligent charging method of rechargeable lithium batteries: the intelligent control algorithm is more suitable for the battery charging state and automatically tracks the best charging current curve of the battery. The temperature change of rechargeable lithium batteries is small and the charging time is short, but the requirements for the algorithm design and measurement accuracy are high.
